I had a relationship with a solo dolphin in the bay years ago and carved many dolphin pendants.
This jade dolphin pendant is carved from a very beautiful extraordinary New Zealand jade.A light green jade with that amazing blue vein running through it. The white ‘foam’ in the lower half will be another mineral inclusion, possibly diopside but without proper testing who can say. The yellow areas? There is also a bit of reddish Totoweka marking in there.
One of the most unique jades I have found.
The dolphin is 6cm high and 3.6cm wide.

This jade dolphin pendant is carved from a beautiful New Zealand jade.
Where to start! The mixture of colours and patterns is extraordinary and unique. A light green jade with that amazing blue vein running through it. The white ‘foam’ in the lower half will be another mineral inclusion, possibly diopside but without proper testing who can say. The yellow areas? There is also a bit of reddish Totoweka marking in there.
Overall this ranks amongst the most unique jades I have found. I cut it then put it aside, only first using it to carve a double dolphin for my wife. One of those jades I save for special things!
