New Zealand Jade Roimata

This pendant is carved as a form of teardrop or Roimata from a very beautiful New Zealand jade.

There is a slight twist I have carved into the pendant adding an extra tactile dimension.

The stone is a lovely very translucent mid-green with a contrasting rind and and olive transition into the heart. The different colours create a great effect.

This jade is one I self collected many years ago from a little known source. Quite a striking stone, I haven’t carved much of it for a while but this was amongst some pendant blanks I recently went through and it’s lovely to work a piece of it again!

This striking pendant is 7.4cm high and 2cm widest.

The cord has sliding knots to allow adjustment to suit.
