Marsden jade pendant

This pendant carved roimata or teardrop form is carved from a beautiful dark New Zealand jade from the Marsden area. I have used some of the rind for a contrasting colour.

I obtained this stone from an old gold miner working in Stafford which is the bottom of the Marsden zone.

Jade from here is renowned for having some of the most beautiful and colourful jades in New Zealand.

This particular stone I fell in love with and cut quite a while ago so unfortunately it is starting to run out. Still, I can’t take these things with me and I enjoy seeing the pieces I carve bring joy to many people.

The cord is adjustable by sliding the knots to suit.

This wee beauty is 6.3cm long by 2.5cm wide.
