Lashed Inanga Jade Toki

This jade toki (adze) pendant is carved from a very lovely blue/grey New Zealand inanga jade with chatoyant swirls which flash in the light.
The top of the pendant is lashed in a traditional style.
The jade was given to me by an old friend who lived down the west coast behind Hokitika. He fossicked for jade when it wasn’t complicated and this piece would have come from the Arahura river.
He is now deceased but I have many beautiful stones he gave me!
Unfortunately this block has nearly gone but it is nice to still be able to work this delightful jade, (even though it can be tricky as is the case with many inanga jades.)
The cord has knots that slide to adjust for length.
This pendant is 7.9cm long and 3cm widest.
