Marsden Jade Toki

Description

This toki (adze) pendant is carved from a very beautiful rich green New Zealand Marsden jade. Unfortunately I don’t have much of this stone left.

New Zealand jade from the Marsden area is revered as some of our most beautiful stone…this is certainly a beautiful example.

This stone I obtained from a gold miner down the west coast years ago. He and his brother found a huge flake blown off a boulder too big to move by the old time gold miners! A friend told me about him and he took me to his mother’s house in Kumara where his half stood in the front garden (in full view of the main road)! What a score that was!

This striking pendant is 8.1cm high and 2.1cm widest.
